Summer Fishing in Maui
Some comments on fishing off Maui Hawaii during the months of mid-May to mid July.
- June, July and August are some of the best months to fish in Hawaii.
- A lot of extended families and their guests come to Maui for weddings. Fishing boats that can take more than six people will be in high demand, and there are currently only TWO - one out of Lahaina Harbor and one out of Maalaea Harbor! These boats book out quickly mid-May to mid-July.
- Many families with children travel to Maui in the early summer months. There aren't many of the fishing boats that will take kids under 8, even on a private trip. The better "kid friendly" boats are often booked out a month in advance or more.
- Summer tournaments! A few of the boats leave Maui for Kona in late June and don't come back until mid-July, as there are a number of annual marlin tournaments over there during that time frame. That also limits the number of good boats available for charter here over that 2-3 week period.
- If you fall into one of these categories and/or you're considering fishing during June and July, you would be wise to make a reservation ASAP.
If any of these points apply to you,
you would be wise to make a fishing reservation ASAP.
