Hi Mike,
Thanks for all the info!! I took your advice and got some squid while I was there. I bought a new rod/reel combo from Walmart and went fishing one morning in Maalaea

I found a rocky outcropping and threw the squid leftovers out. Threw my line in and within a minute I hooked into something huge. As I continually increased the tension, it just kept taking more line.
Finally after about 20 minutes it broke my line (when I had barely anything left on the reel). Didn't see it jump or anything, but it was still an awesome experience.
My friend and I also really enjoyed the fishing charter on the Action boat. We got 8 Mahi Mahi between 6 of us on the boat. The captain gave us the filets from one of the Mahi Mahi and they were amazing on the BBQ. I do think next time, I'll try and book a private charter so we can hopefully
land more ourselves.
